My biggest buck to date grossed 144 inches, and I harvested it with my AR-15 chambered in 6.5 Grendel. Those are the two details that put this deer at the top of my personal hunting record.
A 144-inch personal best
For me, this buck sets the mark that every future buck will be measured against. The final gross score came in at 144 inches. That is the gross measurement I am sharing here, rather than a net score or a claim about a record-book entry.
The rifle behind the harvest
I used my 6.5 Grendel AR-15 to take this buck. It is part of this hunt’s story alongside the deer itself: that was the rifle and chambering in my hands for my biggest harvest so far.
Watch the video
I have included the hunt video here so you can watch it without leaving Josh Scott Outdoors. The player starts at the beginning, so you can watch the full video here or open it on my YouTube channel.
This article gives you the highlights; the video is where you can follow the story in my own words. A number on a score sheet tells you the size of the antlers. Seeing the deer on video gives you a better look at the buck behind that number.
My biggest buck—so far
Whether another deer eventually takes its place or this one stays my personal best, the facts of this harvest remain the same: a buck grossing 144 inches, taken with my 6.5 Grendel AR-15.
Thanks for watching and following Josh Scott Outdoors. If you have a personal-best buck of your own, I would love to hear about it in the comments on the video.
