Privacy.

The site stores editorial entries, uploaded article and preview images, and an anonymous count of retailer-link clicks. Anonymous engagement counts include entry views and clicks to watch on YouTube. These are counts of events, not unique people or embedded video plays. Each event contains an entry ID, random record ID and timestamp; it does not store your name, email or IP address.

Hosting and authentication providers may process technical logs and sign-in information to operate the website. The Gear Desk uses ChatGPT sign-in and is restricted to the site owner.

Pages with a video include an embedded YouTube player. Loading or playing that player may share technical information with YouTube and is subject to Google’s privacy policies.

Following an external retailer link takes you to another website, where that retailer’s privacy and tracking policies apply. Affiliate links may allow retailers to attribute purchases.

Contact form submissions include your name, email address, subject, and message. FormSubmit processes submissions for spam checks and email delivery to Josh’s Proton Mail inbox. Use the direct email link if you prefer. FormSubmit and Proton Mail handle this information under their own privacy policies.

This version does not collect newsletter subscriptions or operate advertising trackers. The policy will be updated before adding those services.
